Unlike fast fashion, outdoor wear demands specialised raw materials to ensure quality and durability standards. That’s fine, but it does mean when those materials are scarce, your lead times go up and up and up.
If that wasn’t enough…
You also have to make key decisions regarding which orders you fulfil first based on said scarcity. While not ideal, it’s a necessity that you’re able to prioritise effectively.
The complexity doesn’t stop there either.
Outdoor customers are used to retroactively changing their orders to add different items or colours. It’s not ideal but you need to be able to accommodate these requests.
Don’t forget sustainability.
While outdoor generally speaking is way ahead on sustainability, there’s always more that can be done. Especially when consumers and governments alike demand it.
