A fashion company can have a ‘modern’ ERP, a point-of-sale system, and an eCommerce platform, yet still find its people moving information manually between them. Even though the technology is there, the underlying platforms simply do not reflect how fashion actually works.
This scenario is familiar ground for Norra Commerce Partner, the newest company to join K3’s partner network. Based in the Nordics, Norra specialises in Dynamics 365 Business Central (BC) and the applications that surround it, including point of sale and eCommerce.
Norra’s team has experience on both sides of the coin, with backgrounds spanning technology vendors and senior roles (e.g., CFO, CTO) inside fashion and retail companies – a combination that gives the business real insight into the challenges its customers deal with each day.
Primarily working across Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark, Norra combines local knowledge with experience from inside fashion and retail businesses. Its team recognises that large product ranges often bring a constant flow of new and obsolete SKUs. As data accumulates, the administrative work grows with it until processes that once felt manageable begin absorbing more and more time.
According to Norra, a company introducing 3,000 new SKUs each year could see as many become obsolete in the same period. Without the right structure around that data, teams could find themselves maintaining thousands of records that are no longer relevant for the business.
The manual handling that follows is usually the clearest signal that a company’s platform has fallen behind. A system may have been designed around eCommerce, for example, while overlooking the product, purchasing, logistics, and fulfilment processes required elsewhere.
Norra has seen firsthand the difference a better-fitting platform can make. One of its customers operates 120 stores across Sweden alongside two eCommerce sites. The retailer was burdened by a system that had become costly and unsuitable for its needs. After analysing the existing setup, Norra helped the retailer transition to a more cost-effective platform where transactions are updated in real time and data is captured reliably throughout the process.
This experience shaped Norra’s decision to partner with K3FS and offer K3 Pebblestone alongside Business Central. Built natively within BC, K3 Pebblestone adds functionality developed around the specific needs of fashion companies.
The partnership will give Norra access to K3FS’s fashion expertise and further help the team address the challenges faced by customers – something that is already happening. The business recently took over the management of a customer platform that includes K3 Pebblestone and was able to assume operational responsibility very quickly.
For Norra, the value of an industry-specific platform is closely connected to the people responsible for delivering it. Its team understands the language its customers use, the pressures behind their decisions, and the operational consequences when a system falls short.
This knowledge helps Norra become involved earlier, identify potential risks, and plan a platform around where the customer intends to go. As the company puts it, an hour spent discussing the platform before a problem surfaces can prevent ten hours of troubleshooting later.
The same principle applies over a much longer horizon.
A business choosing new technology today will have different requirements five years from now. Norra’s role is to keep developing the platform as those requirements change, helping fashion companies avoid falling back on spreadsheets, workarounds and disconnected manual processes.
Through its partnership with K3FS, Norra can now combine that approach with the industry functionality of K3 Pebblestone, bringing Business Central closer to the way Nordic fashion companies already work.
“It is not primarily our delivery model or our proactive approach that creates the greatest value for our customers,” said Johann Runemark, Sales Manager at Norra Commerce Partner. “What matters most is our understanding of the industry and our knowledge of the challenges faced by retail and fashion businesses.”
